The Challenge

Industry wastewater treatment

From oil fields to refineries, the Oil & Gas industry generates enough hydrocarbon-polluted wastewater to fill over 4,000 Olympic pools every day.

Treating this water can cost up to $50 million per day, often relying on outdated technologies that are energy-intensive and produce secondary waste such as sludge.

The Solution

NotFossil’s Expertise in Biotechnology

We design efficient consortia to enhance treatment performance

Microorganism collection

Of bacteria specialized in hydrocarbon degradation.  Wild-type and CRISPR-edited non-GMO strains

Microbial combination

Select the best combination of bacteria and co-nutritional requirements for each particular waste assisted by bioinformatics and machine learning algorithms

Fermentation & scaling up

Optimization of bacterial growing and inoculum production

Our founding team

Camila and Lucas have been working together since 2017. Their journey began when Lucas, a researcher and professor, became Camila’s mentor during her university studies and later guided her PhD research in hydrocarbon bioremediation and wastewater treatment, which concluded in 2024.

From the start, they focused on transforming their research into practical solutions. Now, they are committed to taking their efforts to the next level, leveraging their expertise and dedication to addressing environmental challenges and improving lives on a global scale.
